Many other basic research projects are supported indirectly through the Poultry CRC. Approximately one in every four dollars spent by AECL on research is administered under the stewardship of the Poultry CRC.
Under the current arrangement, the Australian Government provides funding to the CRC equivalent to approximately three times the money invested by the poultry industry. This situation allows a large investment in future-oriented basic research that otherwise would not have been possible.
In taking advantage of the Poultry CRC, AECL has been able to invest resources in important research areas of practical and immediate benefit to Australian egg farmers, namely the Egg Quality and EPRID Program.
